Things I Love Thursday #2

Hello my lovelies! The weather is still as hot as ever, and doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of letting up. Luckily there were still some pretty cool things to tide me over…

I’m in love with Quiet: The Power of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain. I’m only a chapter in so far, but just from the first few pages I can tell it’s going to be brilliant. Expect a full review soon!

This is probably a surprise to anyone who knows me, but one of my favourite movies of all time is Legally Blonde. It’s a fun little romp of a chick-flick- that happens to also be surprisingly feminist and non-stereotypical. Go Elle!

Listen

This week’s earworm is Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. It’s a seriously fun song with an out there, strange-but-cool vibe. And, as a bonus, the vid stars one of my favourite actors, Lou Diamond Phillips!

♥ The Body Shop’s 100% Natural Lip Roll-On in Orange. It tastes just like candy!

♥ This awesome Captain America t-shirt!

♥ Know someone who’s an awesome baker, a kick-ass friend, or something else cool that deserves an award? Or, heck, think YOU’RE that awesome? Print up a fancy customised certificate here and let the world know!

♥ Figuring out more and more HTML. Like how to add blockquotes!

Things I Love Thursday #1

This is a new weekly feature, inspired by the wonderful Gala Darling. In the hopes of focusing more on the positive, here are the things I’m jazzed about this week!

Read

I know, I know, I should be reading real books. But Caravan is brilliant- excellently researched, well-written articles, great photography, and subjects you never see covered elsewhere in the media. It, along with The Hindu and Open, are the only news publications I read since my escape from journalism school.

Watch

I finally got around to watching RDJ as the famous Consulting Detective in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Not a bad romp, all in all, but definitely only for fans of the clever Mr. Holmes. Three out of five stars.

Yes, yes, I know, Russel Crowe can’t sing worth a damn. There are several other amazing songs in this collection, though. Eddie Redmayne’s version of ‘Empty Chairs at Empty Tables’ breaks my heart every time.

Grab bag

– the unexpected deliciousness that is homemade pizza

– Brass Tacks Madras’ new summer collection

– Yves Rocher lip balms

– this quote: Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked ‘female.’ – Diana Vreeland.

Until next time, my lovelies!
